Inside and Outside bets in Roulette

 
 

If you have ever been to a casino or some other type of gambling establishment that has a roulette wheel, you may have heard the terms “inside bet” and “outside bet” being used during the game. If you are not a skilled roulette player or very familiar with the game of roulette, then you probably have no idea what the dealer is talking about or what the difference is between the two. Is your Bet an Inside Bet or an Outside Bet?

In the game of roulette, you can bet on numerous different things. You can bet on the color (red or black), you can bet on a particular number, or you can bet whether the number is an even number or an odd number. But, you may hear the roulette lingo used and hear people say “inside bet” or “outside bet”, what kind of bet are you placing?

Inside bets:

  • Betting on a single number
  • A split bet which is betting on numbers that are placed horizontally or vertically from one another.
  • A street bet which is a bet on three numbers that are in a horizontal line.
  • Corner bets which are bets on numbers that are in a squared formation.
  • A six line bet which is a bet on two combined streets.
  • A trio bet which is a bet on an intersection.

Outside Bets:

  • Betting on one to eighteen. This means betting on one of the numbers that is in the first eighteen numbers coming up.
  • Betting on nineteen to thirty six. This means betting on one of the last numbers that is in the last eighteen numbers coming up.
  • Betting on whether the ball will land on red or black.
  • Betting on whether the ball will land on an even or odd number.
  • Betting on a dozen. This means one through twelve, thirteen through twenty four, or twenty five through thirty six.
  • Betting on a column.
